This page provides you with information regarding the Trial Helper Position; please carefully read what the position entails before applying.

Should your application initially be successful, you will be notified of your acceptance along with a date and time for an informal interview with a Trainer, IRC Operator or Network Manager.

If your application and interview are successful, you will become a Trial Helper for a discretionary trial phase of 3 (three) weeks. During this time, you will have access to our #support channel and our Support Queue Manager bot, and we will expect you to meet minimum hours and requests.

  • You will be assigned your own Trainer who will be your point of contact for tuition and help for the period of your trial phase, and if successful, your entire time in the Training Programme which is 110 days
  • During your trial phase, you will be added as a level 200 operator on the #support user-list and given access to the various other channels that require your attention
  • You will be expected to dedicate at least 6 (six) hours per WEEK. Doing more will not go un-noticed and will strengthen your overall outcome
  • Please note: Doing your full hours (minimum) in one week is not acceptable; it must be a minimum of 6 hours per week
  • Whilst in #support you will work in the public channel only; under no circumstances may you enter a PM conversation with a user. This allows us to observe you during your trial phase to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Various members of staff, who will vote on your performance, will view and assess your professionalism and friendliness in deciding your suitability for a position when your trial phase has ended
  • You will not have any privileged access to Services, so all commands must be performed by a full member of staff. You will be advised how to go about this should your application be successful

At the conclusion of your three-week trial period, a collective nomination team will vote on your performance, and a decision will be made as to whether to promote you. If successful, you will remain in our 'Training Programme' for a total of 110 days (from your Start date, therefore, including your trial phase) with the same Trainer.

We wish you every success in your application, good luck!    Continue to the Staff Application   Go

QOTD: We have a responsibility in our time, as others have had in theirs, not to be prisoners of history but to shape history, a responsibility to fill the role of path-finder, and to build with others a global network of purpose and law. -- Madeleine Albright
