Channel Registration Policy
This is an agreement ('Agreement') between you and the Xtris Network. This Agreement governs your use of our network, website and Services. This Agreement may be updated from time to time with or without notice to you.
In this document, throughout the website and on any correspondence to you, the Xtris Network may be referred to as: 'we', 'our', 'us', 'The Xtris Network', 'Xtris', 'Xtris IRC Network' & 'Xtris Network'. Connection to and use of the Xtris Network is conditional upon acceptance of any and all applicable policies of the Acceptable Use Policy and its Indemnify and Hold Harmless clause.
In consideration of your use of the Service ('Service'), you represent that you are of legal age (13 and over) to use any Xtris service (see our COPPA document for information) and are not a person barred from receiving services under the laws of your country or applicable jurisdiction.
- We offer channel registration with our service bot, ChanServ
- Registering a channel will make you the registered owner of the channel (level 500). As such, you are responsible for the channel, your user- and ban-lists and ensuring your channel follows the network's policies
- You must have an account with NickServ (see this FAQ) and be opped in the channel you're wishing to register in order to continue with the registration
- All registrations must be processed in #support
- No channel containing the '$' character may be registered, nor any channel name over 30 characters in length
- We will NOT register any channel that we deem to be unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortuous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libellous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable. This includes (but is not limited to) hacking, pornography, cracking, mp3 or warez
- You may register a maximum of 2 channels per account; however, we reserve the right to use our discretion with this limit
- The Support Department reserves the full right to reject any channel registration for any reason that they deem valid
- Please note that if both the owner and level 300+ users are away from IRC for 14 days, your channel will be automatically expired
Notes for non-general channels:
- Gaming teams, clubs or clans will need to provide a roster or some form of website to validate leadership; this is to cut back on the amount of leadership challenges in relation to gaming teams
- If you are looking to register a media channel (i.e. a Radio Channel), you must agree to adhere to the following policies, in addition to all other policies:
- All forms of prank calling is prohibited
- No prizes or competitions can be run publicly
Ownership changes:
- If the owner (level 500) of a channel has been away for 14 days or more, a member of the user-list may request ownership of a channel. We will only offer ownership to the next highest active operator, of level 300 access or higher (to prevent the channel from naturally expiring)
- The next highest active operator will need to join #support for this change to be actioned
- Definition of 'Highest Active Operator': If the owner has been away for 2 weeks and there is a 499 level operator seen in the last 2 weeks, only that 499 user could receive ownership - or someone else with equal access who is active. If a 498 requests ownership when a 499 has been active, ownership will NOT be given. Everyone ABOVE you must have been away for at least 2 weeks, without them having the
VACATIONmode set on their account - Please note, we will only change ownership under the following circumstances:
- If the owner has not set the
VACATIONflag on their account - If no other operator with higher access than you has been active in the past 2 weeks (1 week and 6 days is not acceptable)
- If the owner has not set the
As well as the terms above, you also agree you will NOT:
- Send unsolicited advertisements of any kind
- Allow your channel to be used for any illegal purpose
- Allow your user-list staff to breach the network's policies
- Act in any manner which makes the general user-base of the network feel uncomfortable
We greatly appreciate your acceptance and compliance of this Agreement and its related documents.

I've come to know that our families are a canvas on which we paint our greatest hopes - imperfect and sloppy, for we are all amateurs at life, but if we do not focus too much on our mistakes, a miraculous picture emerges. And we learn that it's not the beauty of the magic that warrants our gratitude - it's the chance to paint. -- Richard Paul Evans
